FLEET FEATHER for VIOLIN, BASS CLARINET, AND PERCUSSION
PROGRAM NOTES
In Fleet Feather, the ensemble follows the drifting path of a feather, often caught in a swirl of motion and continually twisting in new directions. Amidst this flow of energy, are just a few brief moments of calm. The piece twice reaches its peak as all three members of the ensemble take up multiple, distinct musical lines simultaneously. The effect is intended to capture an overwhelming sense of motion, but one where the beauty of each line, and their interlocking relationships, convey a sense of unity and clarity.
